Who Is on the LORD's Side?

And how do we know? How do we know who is on the Lord's side?

In Acts 4:1 we read about the religious leaders; the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees. These people thought they were the servants of the Most High God and they thought there actions against Peter and John were right actions.

Acts 4:5 & 6 repeat and amplify these leaders; "And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes, as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem."

The apostles Peter and John are put on trial in chapter 4; their preaching to the people with such popular response is disturbing these religious leaders. It isn't difficult for us to read these accounts and discern who is really on the LORD's side.

However, even though it may be easy to see that Peter and John are on the Lord's side, will we as easily see today in real life those who are on the Lord's side, and who are not? How are we to know? Well, we are to prove all things, and examine ourselves, and search the scriptures daily, and worship God in Spirit and in Truth, and seek God in prayer, praise, and song, and sit and eat at His table, and have fellowship with His people, and do good works, and remember the poor, and help the stranger and foreigner, etc. etc.

Why were the leaders angry at Peter and John? What is their beef? What is their sacred cow? Do we have any sacred cows?
