Another Little Pentecost Outpouring; Acts 11:15

To confirm His New Covenant, the Prince Jesus Christ continues for a time to perform many signs and wonders through the acts of the apostles. As you recall, this is a fulfillment of Daniel's prophecy, 9:27; "Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;... " And Mark 16:19-20 reiterates this;

"So then, after the LORD had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the LORD working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen."

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, recorded in Acts 2, was one of these powerful confirmations. I submit that Revelation 8:5 correlates with this; fire is thrown from the altar in heaven down to earth and there appear tongues of fire on the heads of the disciples.

In Acts 11:15 there is another miniature pentecost event. Peter is retelling how it happened that he came and preached to the household of Cornelius and he says;

"And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning."

Peter then asks the circumcision party this question;

"If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?"

And those of the circumcision party were humble hearers and responded;

"When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, 'Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.'"

God had always granted the nations repentance to life but as we've seen the Jews had gotten kind of goofy in their thinking about this through many years of false teaching. It took powerful signs and messages to shake some of them awake.
